Quality and Regulatory Manager

We’re looking for a Quality and Regulatory Manager to join our London Head Office Colliers Wood (SW19 2PX).

As the Quality and Regulatory Manager, you’ll play a leading role in improving quality across all dialysis units. You will be required to lead in Health Care Commission registration and inspection issues as well as undertake and complete projects against agreed timescales and objectives. This will be a standalone role and report directly to the Director of Operations and Clinical.

Being the Quality and Regulatory Manager in DaVita UK will be a broad role, with a focus developing and managing the strategy for risk including interpreting data and making appropriate recommendations while co-ordinate and develop the clinical governance activities of DaVita UK and be instrumental in creating a culture of continuous quality improvement. In this role you can expect to carry out below key responsibilities but not limited to:

  1. Clinical Governance
  • Co-ordinate and develop clinical governance activities, policies and systems including clinical audit and risk and pro-actively identify and implement required changes to existing practice;
  • Process clinical governance data using appropriate audit methodology and interpret and make recommendations based on this data;
  • Produce clinical governance reports to the Director of Operations and Clinical and make recommendations on required action;
  • Champion and raise awareness of the benefits of effective clinical governance and promote the understanding of relevant issues
  • Organise clinical audit presentations including agendas, papers and Minutes and attend these meetings to make appropriate presentations and recommendations and follow up matters arising;
  • Liaise with the Director of Operations and Clinical in the investigation of clinical incidents and making recommendations on steps to be taken as a consequence of these incidents;
  • Monitor external developments in clinical governance and regulation and make appropriate recommendations;
  • Co-ordinate and administer multi-disciplinary team meetings;
  • Undertake such clinical governance projects as may be required to develop the company’s ongoing clinical governance programme.
  1. Quality Improvement
  • Co-ordinate and manage DaVita UK registration programme with the Health Care Commission
  • Co-ordinate and develop appropriate systems and processes to assess the standards of quality across all areas of activity in the renal units and highlight areas for improvement and make recommendations and agree ongoing targets for these improvements;
  • Undertake the timely and effective management and resolution of both written and verbal complaints and ensure that all matters arising are followed up and resolved;
  • Carry out an ongoing review of customer feedback through monitoring of satisfaction questionnaires and regular visits to the renal units to see patients and ensure that all matters arising are followed up and actioned;
  • Provide guidance, advice and support to the unit sisters/charge nurses and staff in the implementation of quality improvement and the achievement of continuous quality improvement;
  • Undertake such quality improvement projects as may be required.
  1. Risk Management
  • Develop the ongoing strategy for the management of clinical and certain non-clinical risks;
  • Promote risk management principles throughout the units ensuring that appropriate training is undertaken by all staff;
  • Manage and co-ordinate using computer and manual systems the recording, analysis, reporting and investigation of accidents, incidents, hazards and sharps injuries and develop methods to assist in identifying and reporting trends in such incidents. Highlight the action required to be taken to minimise risk and follow up on any matters arising;
  • Ensure that policies and procedures meet current legislation and other regulatory requirements and review their application to ensure that it is consistent and appropriate;
  • Monitor policies and procedures ensuring that they are in date;
  • Identify areas of risk and establish mechanisms and co-ordinate and support activities to eliminate/reduce risk;
  • Formulating and continuously review disaster contingency plans for all units;
  • Undertake such risk management projects as may be required.
  1. Health and Safety
  • Formulate and review health and safety policies working closely with the company’s Health and Safety advisors- Peninsula Business Services;
  • Ensure the awareness of the importance of effective health and safety is maintained and review on-going compliance;
  • Work with the Director of Operations and Clinical, Head of Nursing and Regional Operations Managers to ensure accident reporting procedures comply with RIDDOR regulations;
  • Assist in preparing reports to the Health and Safety Executive and the Medical Devices Agency as indicated.
  1. Other Duties
  • Maintain and expand own professional and personal knowledge and skills;
  • Maintain appropriate links with other organisations to ensure that DaVita UK continues to benchmark against external bodies and maintains its leading position on quality and risk issues;
  • Establish and maintain appropriate correspondence and filing systems for all patient feedback/correspondence and clinical governance correspondence;

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • Current RN/RGN registration with NMC;
  • Educated to degree level;
  • Mentorship qualification;
  • Experience of establishing and leading clinical and non-clinical audits with positive outcomes from resulting changes;
  • Experience of preparing and presenting reports to different groups e.g. Nurse Managers, Executive Board, clinical and non-clinical staff;
  • Experience of working with the HCC on establishing and maintaining registration for an organisation;
  • Experience of policy ratification and document review;
  • Evidence of teaching (formal and informal) experience;
  • Experience of staff development and performance management;
  • Experience of implementing and managing change;
  • Research awareness and application to practice
